We’ve had a busy year at the 1776 Project PAC. So far, the 1776 Project has been involved in around 60 school board races through the spring and summer, from Tennessee to Wisconsin. This November, the 1776 Project has 37 additional races, and five runoffs or general elections from previous months.
OUR ROLE IN WISCONSIN
The total amount spent on school board elections in Wisconsin has skyrocketed in the last decade. But do you notice where the biggest increase is?
The Democratic Party.
The local GOPs in Wisconsin were badly outraised in the spring races, but luckily independent groups like ours were able to pick up the slack. The Democratic Party in particular has been increasing their direct involvement in school board races. They aren’t just leaving the job to teacher’s unions anymore — the fight to control our kids’ education is a losing battle for them, and now they have to redouble their investments.
In fact, the 1776 Project was the single biggest supporter of school board candidates in Wisconsin for the spring election cycle. The 1776 Project outraised and outspent every other independent group combined — liberal and conservative.
The result of that spending is clear. The 1776 Project won nearly 60% of our races in Wisconsin despite the large gap in funding — a testament to the grassroots desire to make school boards more responsive and transparent in their communities.
TEXAS BEARS FRUIT
In May, Southlake-Carroll ISD sued the Biden Administration over their proposed Title IX changes. In July, a federal judge granted them a temporary ruling in favor of the suit, halting any proposed Title IX implementation for the school district (and eventually across the state).
Southlake is one of the first boards where the 1776 Project PAC has helped support 100% of the Board of Trustees. They’re doing an incredible job!
OUR PLAN FOR NOVEMBER
The 1776 Project recently released our November endorsements, focused on Arizona and Maryland.
In Maryland, we have the opportunity to flip a handful of boards or strengthen the conservative majority on others.
Our races in Arizona reflect opportunities to flip boards that have been neglected since the pandemic — and hopefully drive conservative voters to make informed decisions, since the Arizona ballot will be two pages long.
Our efforts this year are pivotal to keep the momentum alive. The DNC, teachers unions, and independent progressive groups are all realigning their budgets to focus on local board races — where they’ve already dominated for decades before the post-Covid parental movement.
The 1776 Project is an existential threat to their agenda.
We’re here to empower parents, not elect stooges for unelected administrators.
We’re here to turn our public education system around.
We we’re here to make sure our kids can read and do math.
We’re here to make sure schools are transparent actors in the community.
And with your help, we’ll get the job done this year, and in the years to come.
